Before selecting a bearing: the information to prepare.
A clear brief helps connect structural requirements with the correct product documentation.
Describe the application.
State whether the component serves a bridge or building, describe the structure type and identify the seismic design basis. Start with the role of the bearing in the structure.
State loads and movement.
Provide vertical design loads, uplift conditions, horizontal displacement and rotation. Identify fixed, guided or multidirectional movement requirements where these have been defined.
Define the interfaces.
Include upper and lower connections, anchors, installation height, maintenance access and available arrangement drawings. These details help connect a product family to the actual structure.
Identify the required documents.
Use the applicable catalog table, confirmed arrangement drawing and product-specific reports. A family overview introduces the options; final dimensions and performance parameters belong to the confirmed project configuration.
